Comet Wii Fit
When we think of kids playing video games, we usually picture them sitting on the couch, staring into the television as if
they were in a trance, and moving only their fingers to hit the buttons on their controller. That’s one of the reasons why many people are
blaming video games for an unfortunate trend in England: childhood obesity. This is now changing on a big scale with special packages that have
been put together by the Comet Wii Fit electronics sales department.
Whilst Comet do not have stock of the Wii Fit board in large numbers, you can order in store and usually your WiiFit will be
available for collection within just a few days.
According to BBC News, the number of children age 2 to 10 who were classified as overweight increased from 9.9% to nearly 14%
between 1995 and 2003. The oldest children in the group – between the ages of 8 and 10 – went up by 5% during the same period.
Health experts blame the increase on children eating more and exercising less. No one can argue that the latter problem is
often linked to all of that video game playing. Thankfully, there is a solution available.
Wii Fit: The Game That’s Good for You
Wii Fit revolutionizes the role of video games in the family. Instead of passively making their game characters stronger and
faster, they can now improve their own health with daily workouts that are not only effective but also fun.
The game’s uniqueness begins with its controller. In addition to the game’s normal motion-sensitive controllers, Wii Fit comes
with the specially designed Wii Balance Board. Players stand on the board to complete most of their activities. The board resembles a traditional
home scale but includes sensors to monitor your movements. It can measure up to 330 pounds accurately so even those people who are significantly
overweight can use the game.
When you begin playing, you start by completing a Body Test. The test measures a number of factors, including your BMI, your
balancing ability, and your body control. Then your fitness age is calculated. If you’re older than you want to be, you can start a regular
regiment of exercises to start lowering your age and improving your fitness.
Will You Enjoy Wii Fit?
Since the game’s release in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world, the game has been a huge success. Critics have
had good things to say. Their ratings have been predominantly positive. More importantly, stores have had trouble keeping the games on shelves.
Between December 2007 and May 2008, the game sold more than 2 million copies just in Japan. Some stores in the UK reported selling the newly
launched games at the rate of 90 per minute and on the other side of the pond stores sold most of their 500,000 units soon after the game
arrived.
But that doesn’t answer the question of whether or not you will enjoy the game.
The game, unlike other types of workout programs, customizes your activities for you. Instead of trying to keep up with a
physically fit leader, you only have to worry about improving your own performance. That’s one of the reasons why the game is so great for kids
who need more exercise and for parents who do too.
You’ll also be able to enjoy a wide range of activities, including yoga, strength training, balance building, and aerobic
exercises that are safe and easy to learn for the entire family.
